Why Site Photos Are Required Before Your Steel Building Order Begins
When you're investing in a steel building, timing and precision matter. One of the key steps before your steel structure can go into production is submitting photos of your completed site. You might wonder why this is necessary—after all, the building plans are set, right?
Not exactly. Here's why these photos aren't just a formality—they're essential.
1. No Surprises = No Delays
Photos allow the manufacturing team to verify that your site is truly ready for delivery and installation. Are there unexpected slopes? Retaining walls? Ledges? Piles of gravel or standing water? These details matter—and they’re not always obvious on paper.
Without photos, assumptions must be made. And assumptions can lead to surprises. Surprises, in construction, mean delays—and delays mean more costs and headaches.
2. Sometimes Site Prep Falls Behind (or Apart)
In a perfect world, site prep finishes on time. In reality, weather, subcontractor delays, or permit issues can slow things down—or stop them completely. If a steel order goes into production before the site is truly ready, and then site work is delayed or canceled, you’re left with a building and nowhere to put it.
Photos help confirm that your pad is real, ready, and not just “on the schedule.”
3. Production Slots Are Precious
Steel buildings are custom-engineered. Once your order enters production, your building is being fabricated specifically for you—your dimensions, your specs, your schedule. If your site isn’t ready when it’s time to deliver, the crew can’t just move on to the next job without impact. You’ve now taken up time and resources that could have gone to another project.
And worse: your building may need to sit idle, and your project loses its spot in a tightly coordinated schedule.
4. Concrete Needs Time—And Planning
If your site prep includes concrete work, that pad needs proper curing time before any steel touches it. This isn't just a preference—it's a structural requirement. By verifying that your concrete is in place (and curing) before production starts, we can plan the delivery to coincide with your ideal timeline, reducing costly downtime.
5. It's About Doing It Right the First Time
We ask for site photos because we want your project to go smoothly. A complete, clear view of your build site lets us confirm that everything is as it should be—and if it’s not, we can work with you to address it before it becomes a problem.
Bottom line: Site photos are your green light for a smooth, timely build. They help protect your investment, keep the schedule on track, and ensure no one is caught off guard. It’s a simple step that makes a big difference.
